My Story
My artistic nature was first realized through visual arts in High School. This lead to a BA. in Art from U. of MA. Shortly thereafter, around the age of 22, my dear Mother bought me a guitar for Christmas. Mother’s have an eye for how to please their children. Slowly but surely I became enthralled with playing music. Being in my 20’s was full of failure, however, as I searched various career fields to fit into. I knew one thing for sure, I enjoyed playing music. After many failures in career pursuits that seemed more financially secure, I got back to where I belonged….playing music. I also have found joy in growing food in my backyard.…..and collecting instruments. My poor father would say, “ Why don’t you focus on ONE instrument? “ It’s a fair question, and sometimes I wish I had focused on just one instrument. He was right in that regard, however, I’ve learned that I’m a generalist, not a specialist. Variety excites me, suits my eclectic nature, and works with the mind I have. One day I came across a wheel chart that categorizes all music instruments according to how sound is produced. This became the basis for my collection…..which has now taken shape as my Major Museum of Sound & Music…..and 6 Mini Museums of Sound & Music. My life could be summed up by the following saying……When you’re on the path, you’re at the goal.
